This poster is a collaboration between Narrow Gauge (designer Layla Tweedie-Cullen) and artist collective et al., whose site-specific installations commonly reflect an interest in utopia/dystopia, altruism and charitable institutions.
The cream coloured page is torn from a found copy of “Maharishi's Programme to Create World Peace” and pictures a person levitating under the heading “World Peace Global Inauguration”. Originally collected, scanned and annotated by etal. as part of a newspaper project designed by Narrow Gauge, the page has been further recontextualised in response to the San Francisco Design Week 2019 theme of ‘comUNITY’. Narrow Gauge and etal. have added the text ‘common good’ as circular form to reference the global ecosystem, energy flows and recycling of matter.
The poster is part of an ongoing inquiry that hinges on use of the document, sourced as journals and publications, that are continually reused, modified, redacted, added to and revised over time to create new versions, and editions.
